Choose by the computer and software you want to work with
PuppyPi’s selected ThinkRobotics configuration includes a Raspberry Pi 5 8GB, and Hiwonder documents ROS1 and ROS2 support. WAVEGO Pro Basic centers on an ESP32 motion controller; the Raspberry Pi host and camera belong to higher package options. The more useful fit depends on whether the project needs an on-board Linux/ROS computer or a simpler microcontroller-centered gait platform.
The PuppyPi price buys a different package direction
ThinkRobotics listed PuppyPi Standard / Pi 5 8GB at ₹1,08,299.99 on October 28, 2026. The existing WAVEGO Pro Basic price snapshot was ₹25,849.99 on October 23, 2026. These are separate dated listings, not checkout totals. The packages are also different: PuppyPi names a Pi 5 configuration, while WAVEGO Basic leaves the Pi host and camera out. If movement experiments are the main goal and you already have the compute setup, Basic is the lower-priced route into the WAVEGO platform.
Twelve degrees of freedom does not settle the decision
Waveshare lists 12 degrees of freedom for WAVEGO Pro, compared with Hiwonder’s eight for PuppyPi. These specifications describe different joint configurations; they do not establish which robot walks, carries a payload or performs a task better. Match the motion range and software documented for the exact project rather than choosing by the larger count.
Check camera and software requirements before ordering
Hiwonder describes camera-based recognition and AI features for PuppyPi, but its pages do not fully specify the software, model/API costs or account setup. WAVEGO Pro Basic lists no camera or Raspberry Pi host; other options change what is in the box. Confirm the current package selectors and documentation against the intended ROS, vision and gait exercises.

Choose PuppyPi when the included Raspberry Pi 5 8GB and Hiwonder’s ROS and camera-oriented path are part of the project brief. Choose WAVEGO Pro Basic for a less expensive quadruped centered on ESP32 gait control, especially when a Pi and camera are unnecessary or already available.
