The quick answer

For autonomous mowing, the Sunseeker X5 (up to 60%, 30°) and the Lymow One Plus (up to 45°, about 100%) list the steepest ratings among the autonomous mowers in our reviews that publish a slope figure. For the steepest ground, Mowrator’s remote-control S1 4WD is rated to 85% (40°) or 119% (50°) but you steer it yourself.

Percent and degrees are not the same

A 100% slope is 45°. Sunseeker quotes percent (60% is about 31°) while Lymow quotes degrees (45° is about 100%). Compare like with like, and treat every rating as a manufacturer maximum on firm, dry ground.

Best wire-free autonomous pick: Sunseeker X5

The X5 is all-wheel drive, rated for up to 0.5 acre and slopes up to 60% (30°), and costs $1,499.99.

Steepest autonomous pick: Lymow One Plus

The Lymow One Plus is a track-drive mower rated for slopes up to 45°. The 5A version is $2,999 and the 10A version $3,199 in the US and Canada.

Wire-free with a 55% rating: UBHOME M10

The UBHOME M10 lists a 55% (28.8°) climbing ability with RTK plus AI-vision positioning and no boundary wire, for €1,299 in the EU store. It is rated for 0.25 acres per day, and the store says orders ship on December 10.

Moderate slopes at a lower price: Sunseeker S4 and V3 ReadyGo

Both list a 42% (22°) slope rating, at $1,279.99 and $799.99, for smaller lawns.

Steepest ground overall: Mowrator S1 4WD

Mowrator’s remote-control S1 4WD is rated for 75%, 85% or 119% (50°) depending on the model, at €4,249, €5,199 and from €4,699 in the EU store. You steer it from a distance; it does not mow on a schedule.

Entry price for gentle slopes: Mowrator S1 2WD

The 2WD is rated for 45% (24°) at €2,999 for the 12Ah version, a lower-cost remote-control option for large, gentler ground.

Your questions, answered.

What is the best robot mower for steep slopes?

Among the autonomous mowers in our reviews that publish a slope figure, the Lymow One Plus (up to 45°) and the Sunseeker X5 (up to 60%) list the steepest ratings.

Can any mower handle a 100% slope?

A 100% slope is 45°. Lymow rates the One Plus up to 45°, and Mowrator rates the S1 4WD 119% model to 119% (50°), which is remote-controlled.

Is a remote-control mower a robot?

No. You steer it for the whole job. It suits steep ground that autonomous mowers avoid.

Are slope ratings guaranteed?

No. They are manufacturer maximums on firm, dry ground. Wet grass, loose soil and turns reduce grip.
